Who owns the ePortfolio? Typically, the person who creates the eportfolio is considered the owner of the content. This includes essays, project, reports, reflection like blogs, and their own professional growth. Individuals typically have control over the accessibility of their e-portfolio, deciding who can view or edit it. ePortfolios usually have personal reflections, achievements, and other data that individuals might not want to share publicly. I’ve come to understand that, as the creator, I own the content in my ePortfolio. This means that the essays, projects, and reflections I include are my intellectual property. That was until I read the article Who Owns the Portfolio. I had always thought that the work I created was my work. But if you are creating the work for an assisgnment its the portfolio of the instution. Yes, I'm the one that created it and it has my ideas but the work is for the school. I see it like a job, I am working and creating a lesson for me to teach the lesson. I do the work and submit my lesson plan but the lesson plan is not my own. It belongs to the school. Because I am creating it for my job. Some jobs my see it a little different than I would.I feel like when you are creating a eportfolio for your job then that portfolio becomes your workplace Portfolio. The way an eportfolio is structured and presented could determine if you own the right to your eportfolio.
