Growth Mindset Blog #5

A growth mindset is the belief that ones abilities can be developed through dedication hardwork and learning. By embracing challenges there are better opportunities for growth rather than obstacles. Staying committed to goals despite set backs and being able to understand that failure is part of learning, and using that feedback is a valuable tool for growth.

In our process of working through our own ePortfolios we had the opportunity to review other portfolios. Being able to see someone else's work gave me options of seeing others critical thinking, and seeing what works well and what doesn’t. It allowed me to compare my portfolio to others which helped me gauge what areas I needed to focus more on. Reviewing others’ work encourages you to reflect on your own skills and projects, leading to self-improvement. You are also able to refine your own presentation and communication skills.

I am very much on that growth mindset path. The process of receiving feedback on our own portfolios was very helpful. I was able to take the information that was given to me and apply it to my portfolio.

Creating an ePortfolio was no easy task. I had never done one before and had no idea where to start. Once I started looking at websites I came across Wix. It was very difficult site for me to figure it out. Had I known that we could create an ePortfolio using Canva I might have leaned a little more towards Canva. I honestly thought about swtiching over several times. I even went in and started a couple of pages on Canva, but I knew that I had already spent a few weeks working on Wix, that I could not give up that easy. With a little bit of time and work I was able to complete my portfolio.
